For this final assignment is to do a research on any building with two storey or more of their construction sequence. Our group decided to choose to research at Pulai Height, Ipoh which houses are just finished construction not more than one month. For this assignment each group member will need to choose any key element from foundation, flooring, structure, ceiling, roof, opening and staircase.
Since I am quite curious to see how opening of a house created and staircase which are under my consideration too, so I chose opening and staircase as my key element of this final assignment.
What is opening?
Opening is an aperture or gap or a way which are allows to access. Open defined as move or adjust ( door or window) so as to leave a space to allows access and view, meaning as with opening peoples can access from living room to bedroom, from bedroom to rest room through the opening of a house, we can view outside from interior space of a house through opening (window).
How opening created?
After my research through our site study at Pulai Height, so far under my knowledge is normally panel door people use it at exterior space, flush door at interior space, sliding door can be used at between living room and balcony or shower room, shower glass door used at shower room. However, windows has no any specific compare to classification of doors.

How to install Panel Door? ( Similiar with others exterior door )
Step 1 - Dry-fit the new door in position to make sure it fits.
Step 2 - Adjust the sub sill as needed with shims following the door manufacturer's instruction.
Thoroughly inspect the house frame for dry rot and pest damage and make needed repairs before proceeding.

Step 3 - Make sure the new door will clear the finished floor. Measure the new door from the bottom of its still to the bottom of the door. Then measure the height of existing interior flooring to ensure that the opening door would not hit the flooring.
Step 4 - Working from outside the house, set the bottom of the door against the opening, then raise the frame into place.
Step 5 - Temporarily insert new shims near the top of the frame to hold the door.
Step 6 - With shims, adjust the door frame. Insert shims between the door frame and studs at the hinge location. Shims keep the door level, plumb and square in the rough opening. Be sure to have at least 1/8-inch of clearance between the jamb and rough frame.
Step 7 - Drive screws through the hinges and shims.
Step 8 - Place shims near the top and bottom of the jamb. Screw it.
Step 9 - Insert additional shims around the frame. For added strengths, place shims at the lock set.
Step 10 - Remove any remaining shipping braces.
Step 11 - Check the door whether it open and close smoothly.
Step 12 - Secure the sill.
Step 13 - Apply minimal expanding spray foam insulation in the gaps around the frame and allow to dry.
Step 14 - Trim any excess with a putty knife.
Step 15 - Reattach the door trim
Step 16 - Apply coat or paint.

REFLECTION
Through this assignment, I have learnt a part of cross section of doors, windows and staircase. Even I am still not sure some of the part of the section but I gain knowledge through the process of doing research of this assignment. However, material chosen is very important for each structure of a house or a building and each form have their own different function.
