ASSIGNMENT 7 : OBLIQUE DRAWING

We are instructed to draw out 3D view from a plan view of an object through 30-60 degrees / 45-45 degrees using adjustable set square. I am worse in imagination, especially I need to use grid line and draw out the invisible part but I really can't imagine it...... After many times of rub and re-draw and rub again, at last it looks messy and dirty on my paper but at least I drew out these two object with scale 1:100

REFLECTION

It's quite a sense of accomplishment after I had done this assignment although it's not perfect, still need some improvement. But at least I learnt the usefulness of adjustable set square(degrees) and how to draw an oblique drawing with it. 

ASSIGNMENT 6 : SECTION DRAWING

Now only I knew why in our floor plan we need to separate section A,B,C and D. After Ms Sharmila and Ms Aida do the explanation of  how can we draw our section drawing straight away bring down all the construction line from our floor plan, it's sounds like much more easier than floor plan drawing. (no need to measure every single column and wall again)

But we still need to do some measurement about height of column, wall and those furniture. 

Section drawing of everyone is different, it depends on where you cut your section and what you see in the section area.

REFLECTION

I learnt how to drew section drawing using adjustable set square and T-square. Previously, I feel T-square is so trouble to bring it up and down since it was big and long, I am asking why can't we just use normal ruler to draw it? Finally I knew that how useful it is! Between, I learnt how to use grid line to let others people know the way of door or showcase open. 

ASSIGNMENT 5 : LAYOUT PLAN, FLOOR PLAN

Materials Needed : Adjustable set square, T-square, Circle Template

 It's the first time to draw floor plan in my life and this was the basic knowledge for an interior designer. Before we start to draw the floor plan, we need to measure every single furniture which included our bed and pillow using scale 1:50

Even it's just a floor plan with ground and mezzanine floor but it took me three days more to completed it. The progress of measuring, when your furniture come out something like 1.232 cm, I am like .......... who did this furniture!!! (shout to my group members...) However, I am still completed it with 1.23 cm ( Sorry Ms)

REFLECTION

I learnt how to draw a simple floor plan although it's still has many mistakes on it, like section drawing and dimension, but I will improve in the future. Some more, I learnt steps of draw out a floor plan from column to furniture, it's an easy work but maybe it's the first time for me so it's took me so much time. Measurement part is really important, strictly no "agak agak".

Although my presentation looks simple and nothing much color on it, but I spent 3 days for my whole panel and eight hour for orthographic board. I tried my best to draw out all view of my final model especially oblique view, I knew it's still not the correct one but I will work hard for my next semester and practice more during semester break. 

LECTURERS COMMENTS

GOOD - Overall presentation board is good, easy to understand, tidy and clean. Explanation was good, model transformation part can see that I am learning from the first model until the last model, I tried to develop different kinds of opening and connect back the interlock. 

BAD - Opening of Model 4 & 5 missing on my final model, it's quite unfortunately. Other than that, orthographic board need a little bit more improvement on scale drawing. Height of final model is too short. 

REFLECTION

Everything is like, FINALLY. What I have learnt through this process of model making is time management. I knew my drawing or model making skill is not that good which means maybe other peoples did 1 time than okay but I need to do 2 times, but I still push myself to work harder. Besides that, I learnt don't afraid of express my own idea on the model whether it's correct or not, lecturers will scold or not or maybe they will accept or not, LEARN FROM MISTAKES, it's not a shame whether I did wrong or not. Thank you Ms.Sharmila for keep pushing me until the last day to change our final model, patience to explain. 

FIRST MODEL

 First of all, I created 6 boxes from my abstraction drawing with the biggest horizontal box which are my hierarchy.

SECOND MODEL

After that, I am going to used triangle as my form because through my abstraction house centipede linear formal organization with dangerous and poisonous characteristic which I used zic-zac line to diplay it, while I combined it, it's form a triangle shape. 

I subtracts from boxes to 3D triangle, used ways of face-to-face and interlock to created my second model.

THIRD MODEL

Through my third model, I tried to play with the amplitude, up and down. But lecturers said it wasn't interesting enough with just a circle. 

FOURTH MODEL

Since my previous model was not interesting enough so I still create it using the way of up and down, and I created it like House Centipede body, which are linear and long. Some more, I created some different types of opening for my model.

FIFTH MODEL

I realized I have lost my interlock, so I looked back to my first model, and created interlock for my fifth model. It's looks much more interesting compare to my previous model with openings and spaces.

FINAL MODEL

It's was my final model which go through three times of redo and redo, but I am still appreciate to my lecturer Ms.Sharmila, gives me idea of how to create my final model, where to create a space for my character and encourage me to play with the triangle using different size of it to let it looks like small to big and big to small. 

After created our character, before we start to create a liar for our character, our lecturers want us to understand abstraction(intangible characteristic), inspiration(tangible characteristic), design language and formal organization of our insect first. For my insect - House Centipede, here's what I came out for my abstraction drawings

It was two house centipede was fighting with each other. While, I used zic-zac line to display poisonous and dangerous, small to big triangle to display fast movement of house centipede. 

How she inspired by house centipede? 

One day she bitten by house centipede, after that  she killed the house centipede and one week later, the house centipede possessed into her body and so she inspired by the insect. BUT I saw my character face and her hair style is so so double triple extremely ugly, so I changed her hairstyle and her name too.

Reflection

After I had designed my character with the method of cut and paste with no glue mark ( it's challenging), I learnt to be patient while I am waiting for the glue to dry and try my best to let everything looks neat and tidy.

The reason of I chose house centipede as my topic because it was much more familiar than others centipedes. Before I start my assignment, I do some research about centipede which included fun facts, habitat, characteristic, ability, life cycle and some behavior of house centipede.

Reflection

This is the first time I sketch out house centipede and it's the first time we need to use architecture lettering to write every words. Before I know what is architecture lettering, I THOUGHT it's very easy, just like what we learnt ABCD during kindergarten BUT the reality is it's quite difficult to follow the way of how architecture lettering suppose to be. It's the first time so it's look like not very neat and the drawing is extremely ugly but I will practice more in the future. However, after finish this assignment, I acknowledge house centipede and it doesn't looks scary for me anymore. (Luckily I am not under cockroach group 😆 )

How to install Casement Windows? 

Step 1 - Install waterproof flashing onto the bottom of the casement window frame

Step 2 - Mark up and drill pilot holes for the casement window frame

Step 3 - Level the casement window

STAIRCASE 

Joists: A length of timber or steel supporting staircase.

Fascia: A wooden board that covering as the step of staircase.

REFLECTION

Through this assignment, I have learnt a part of cross section of doors, windows and staircase. Even I am still not sure some of the part of the section but I gain knowledge through the process of doing research of this assignment. However, material chosen is very important for each structure of a house or a building and each form have their own different function. 

GROUP PROJECT 1 : MODEL MAKING

Materials Needed : Scale Ruler, Modelling board, Sandwich Foam board, Art Card, Transparent card 

It is the most interesting project for me because I preferred model making more than drawing, maybe because of I think I am better in model making more than drawing.

My group member Alia, Kulthum and Wai Shin. We did our house for more than one week and tell you a fact is that we did a sofa for 8 hours and bookshelf for 6 hours, its took us so much time to do it but we still enjoyed the progress of making those interior objects.

REFLECTION

After finished this project, we learned how to make a model using scale 1:25. Besides that, this project trained our patient become much more better after we finished one furniture, we are proud to ourselves even it's not the perfect one but we tried our best and put our effort to finished it. Furthermore, the relationship between us increased through this project.

REFLECTION

I learned various types of axonometric drawing and how to use T-square and adjustable set square. Besides that, we learned how to create a title bar for each drawing. After I had done this assignment, I can imagine top view, side view, front view of an object more easily. 

One Point Perspective

REFLECTION

After finished this assignment, I had learned what is one point and two point perspective, how to draw a interior space using this way. Besides that, I learned how to construct the grid lines for two point perspective. 

   

  

These is what I came out with after two weeks of preparation. The process of searching about properties and strengths of soapstone, it took me 6 hours on it, it's not because of soapstone don't have any properties or strengths, it's because I couldn't find the symbol of what I want, but I still try my best to find it, make it looks better. 

BUT, compared to Task 2, VCR coffee and cakes cafe, soapstone is much more easier than it. After I have visited VCR cafe and observed about what materials they are using in their coffee shop. My favorite material of this cafe is glass. Although it's quite dazzle while the sunlight shone into the cafe, but I like natural light so, so much. Even stay there for a few hours to do my assignment, that is not a big problem. But, it's quite crowded during lunch hour. 

Reflection

After finished research of soapstone, it's really open my eyes about it. During the process of searching for disadvantages of soapstone than only I realize soapstone does not have many disadvantages compare to others stone material for example marble and granite. Second, uses of soapstone not even for interior and exterior space, it still can be made as whiskey stone, lab tables. It's really a very interesting assignment for us to know more about materials that we will come into contact in the future. Other than soapstone, after I have visited VCR coffee and cakes cafe, I knew more knowledge about others material even not all of the information of those materials I know, but at least I know what is that material and what's the properties of it. Besides that, no matter where I go, I will automatically observe what materials that others restaurant or cafe they are using, even shopping mall, toilet. It's really affect me so much after finished these two assignment. 

After finished sketching, we used blur marker to draw the furniture and black marker to draw the human. After drawing than we have finished our activity.

Reflection

After this activity, I have learned about measurement and the angle of taking photos is very important for doing this kind of activity. Besides that, our relationship between each other become closer and I am not afraid to communicate with each others anymore. It's a god activity of us especially we are still unfamiliar with each others and this is the chance for us to meet new friends.

After this assignment, I have learned about how to sketch out the shadow of the vegetables and new knowledge of  four ways of sketching. Before this assignment I doesn't know that it has so many ways for sketching until I am doing this assignment only I realize.
