ACTIVITY 1 :
ARCH DESIGN DISCUSSION


This is the first activity of Construction and technology class, Ms.Sharon instruct us to discuss about design of arch in class with our group members. I am been group with Bryan, Jun Wei, Azmi and Rahim. 

First of all, we discuss about what material can we use to do the column of arch, after that, we discuss about the shape of the arch either round, square, basket handle, ogee or others shape and should we put a dome on the top of the arch.


After discuss about the shapes and design of the arch, than we do the measurement of the arch and drew it out on a draft paper. Lastly, we decide to use square as our arch basic shape, than we are going to add a dome on the top of the arch.



During discussion, all of us suggest our own ideas and our leader Rahim, finalized our ideas and at last only we make the decision depends on the stable of arch and the weight that the arch can stand for. For example, when we are discussing about the measurement of the arch, we used 2.5cm for the width of the column and so on.


Reflection
For me, this discussion was enjoyable and interesting compare to others subject because during discussion we was like really need to build out an arch. I learned how should an arch been build to stand for the weight and a stability of a building. Look forward to the next activity that something relevant about design building in group.
